Bioparc – Zoo of Doué la Fontaine

Accueil > Lieux touristiques > Bioparc – Zoo of Doué la Fontaine

Located in the heart of the Loire Valley in Anjou, the BIOPARC of Doué la Fontaine is a unique site in the world thanks to its troglodyte implantation. Installed in former falun extraction quarries, it allows immediate immersion in lush vegetation, watered by numerous waterfalls. Typical of the region, falun, a shell stone deposited by the sea more than 11 million years ago, is a soft rock that offers the possibility of creating decorations adapted to different animal species. Covering an area of 14 hectares, the BIOPARC can be visited on two geographically organized levels and is structured around islands and vast animal areas. Its journey is unique and the troglodyte character of the site gives a cool atmosphere to the site, pleasant in the middle of summer.
